Presented in the extremely rare Morpheous Purple, this 2007 E Series GTS comes from one of the most significant generations in HSV history. The move from the VZ-based Z Series to the all-new VE-based E Series wasn't simply another model update — it was an enormous generational leap. HSV developed the E Series from a blank canvas, ultimately making more than 300 HSV-specific changes and investing more in its development than the VT, VY and VZ programs combined.
The result was a completely different level of HSV. The GTS received the 307kW and 550Nm 6.0-litre LS2 V8, a far more sophisticated chassis and HSV's Magnetic Ride Control suspension with driver-selectable settings. It marked the point where HSV evolved beyond the traditional Australian muscle sedan formula and produced a genuinely sophisticated performance sedan capable of competing on a much broader stage.
Nearly two decades later, the E Series has firmly cemented itself in Australian performance-car enthusiast and collector territory. Early LS2 cars represent the beginning of the VE-based HSV era, and the GTS was its flagship. As these cars become older, the examples that matter are increasingly about colour, originality, condition and specification.
And Morpheous Purple is what makes this one particularly special. It remains one of the most distinctive colours of the entire E Series era and is rarely seen today, particularly on an early GTS presenting like this.
