The Maloo R8 LSA 30 Year Anniversary was HSV's farewell to Australia's most loved performance ute — a nameplate that had run since 1990, retired for good in December 2017 as local manufacturing came to an end. HSV made sure it went out properly.
The 30 Years update brought meaningful improvements over the standard R8 LSA Maloo. Power was increased to 410kW and 691Nm from the supercharged 6.2-litre LSA V8. Torque vectoring by brake was added as standard — previously only on the flagship GTS — sharpening turn-in and correcting understeer in a way the earlier R8 LSA simply couldn't match. Each car received a unique engine build plate, 30 Years fender badges, floor mats and rear window sticker, along with the Pitch Black styling package across the fender vents, mirror scalps and bonnet vents — commemorative content that marks this as the genuine send-off model.
